Landscape Construction

Many people evaluate the success of a landscape development by what they see in terms of the selection and condition of the plant materials. However, the foundation of a well-designed landscape is good construction. Planting a lawn, filling flower beds and designing walkways comprise only half the landscape equation. We also take into consideration issues such as sustainability, drainage, mold, pests and diseases that might be harmful to people, pets, grass, trees, shrubs and flowers.

Landscape ConstructionForget Me Not Landscape & Nursery carefully designs hard and soft surfaces, fences, walls, overhead structures and edging materials to be attractive and reduce maintenance. When we select building materials for the landscape, we coordinate with materials and colors already used in the home. We like to use wood, stone, brick and concrete that blend with existing construction materials and relate to the natural environment.

Forget Me Not Landscape & Nursery has a great deal of expertise in horticulture, botany, environmental science, engineering, and architectural design.

Mike Onderlinde earned a degree from Michigan State University in Landscape Design. Ericka Onderlinde's education is in horticulture.

Although a lot of their time is spent outdoors constructing landscape projects from start to finish, preliminary planning is often done around the kitchen table making sketches and discussing possibilities for plant materials. Final landscape designs are done on the computer with CAD (computer-aided design).

The most common misconception about the landscape construction business is "mow, blow, and go." Forget Me Not Lanscape doesn't work that way. Once a property has been landscaped, that's not the last that you will ever see of us.

Nearly all of our work comes by referral from happy homeowners. We are successful because we have a vested interested in ensuring that the fruits of their labor continue to look  spectacular and won't turn into a mess when we are gone. We use plants that are low maintenance and need low water. We  select materials that come from recycled, renewable or sustainable resources whenever possible.

We approach landscaping projects in an environmentally conscientious manner to create beautiful sanctuaries. And we promote active outdoor living because we are well versed in the construction of patios, decks, waterfalls, outside fireplaces, koi ponds, barbecues, gazebos, fire pits and exterior lighting systems.
